A letter from her sister disturbed Bree so much she set off immediately on the long drive south from Bundaberg in Queensland, interstate to Sydney. Her worst fears were realised when she arrived at her sister's flat. Suddenly Bree had the responsibility of her baby nephew, Ben. Their situation was grim, and then grew impossibly worse. But when Bree was at her lowest ebb the forceful Heath Durant turned up. He certainly seemed to have the means to provide a better life for baby Ben, far better than Bree could ever hope to provide, and he was determined to do so. Yet if Heath knew the truth would he be so keen to take them both on? And so, for Ben's sake, Bree allowed Heath to mistakenly assume she was the baby's mother. If it meant security for Ben, so be it. The lie was a small price to pay. Surely it wouldn't hurt. Would it?
