Wexford has a country policeman appearance that
often leads suspects to underestimate his
intelligence and they pay the price. His
investigations are more intellectual than forensic
and he prefers to delve into the human motive and
the peculiarities of human nature to solve crimes.
Writing as
Barbara Vine, she delves into the murky mind of the
murderer, often basing the crime on murky impulses
of greed, obsession, fear, lust and hate. These are
classics of crime fiction and generally show the
authors great insight into the human mind and the
psychology of the criminal.
Robin Cook
Dr. Robin Cook, a graduate of Columbia Medical
School, finished his postgraduate medical training
at Harvard. He the acknowledged master of medical
thrillers.
His books blend medical fact with fantasy to create
a very believable story. His books keep the public
aware of the technological possibilities of modern
medical science and the ethical issues involved. He
has explored topics as diverse as organ donation,
genetic engineering, in vitro fertilization,
research funding, organ transplantation and stem
cell research among others.
The thrills and horror develops when ethical lines
are crossed and the protagonist gets caught in
conspiracy or murder and has to prove
himself/herself innocent.
Helen
Fielding

Bridget Jones
Diary garnered exuberant praise every where. This
devastatingly self aware, laugh out loud account of
a year in the life of a thirty something Singleton
on a quest for self improvement has touched a nerve
with millions of readers worldwide.
Her books are
saucy, insightful, humorous, breezy, fast faced and
contemporary. They are easy to read and at times
touch a nerve which allow the reader to identify
with the protagonist. And that is the secret of her
very successful books.
